I had both my front and back doors replaced after living with a drafty, not very solid front door and a back door that was actually an interior door. Ian and Ben did a great job after waiting 8 weeks to order the solid fir doors. After I saw how beautiful the wood was, I decided to stain the interior portions of both doors with a cherry stain and a satin top coat for a little sheen.
I also wanted to keep the idea of blessings on the door so that whomever visits and enters will get blessed as they enter my home. With the previous door, Carleton and I threw a Feng shui housewarming party and the attendees wrote their blessings for the home on the primed front portion and then we painted it the dark red color.
This time I didn’t have a party so I put a favorite quote and my own personal blessings to continue the tradition:
